Buruji Kashamu Raises The Bar In Ogun Politics

Before now, in the political terrain of Ogun State, aside from his stupendous wealth and Omo Ilu Foundation, you could not really call him a political juggernaut nor bigwig, given his alleged cloudy and seemingly shady antecedents; and even in spite of winning the senatorial seat of his Ogun East district in 2015, against all odds, he still did not convince many that he is a sagacious politician but an accidental one. All these were laid to rest days back when strikingly rich Senator Buruji Kashamu played host to many political big wigs, from different divides, in his Ijebu Igbo homestead, on the occasion of his late mom’s 40 days final burial ceremony, which took place at his Omo Ilu Foundation Hall.

The array of top politicians and dignitaries that came to honour the Ogun PDP gubernatorial candidate in the last election, spoke volumes and indeed a testimonial of the fact that the erstwhile distinguished senator has attained a new height in the political math of the state and even beyond. Some of the dignitaries that stormed Ijebu Igbo to honour their own includes the likes of former senate president, Bukola Saraki, Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun; former governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel; former governor Alao Akala; Senator Ifeanyi Uba; Senator Ibrahim Mantu; Adegboyega Isiaka, just to mention a few. It was indeed a classic scene to those that took note of this bent at the party, given the impression that Buruji Kashamu is no longer a politician that can be waved aside in the scheme of things politically, irrespective of his immediate past travails. {Daily Independent}.
