In the search for Sport Media Excellence, the AIPS Sport Media Awards 2019 edition is delighted to introduce a new category specially designed for the new generations: Young Reporter Under 30.
The category celebrates the best work of professionals that are under 30 in three main areas of expertise: writing, broadcasting (audio or video) and photography.
Each of the winners will receive a career-boost opportunity – a scholarship in a major international sport event, with all expenses, accommodation and travel arrangements covered by AIPS.
Difficulties for the youth – Being present in an event, such as the Olympics, a football World Cup or any world championship is one of the main problems young journalists face. They are grown in newsrooms, behind televisions and computer screens, without an actual chance of witnessing the real action. Getting accreditation is not a simple task, let alone covering the travel expenses. But without travelling, they not only miss the emotions; also they miss an invaluable cultural experience.
The AIPS Sport Media Young Reporter Award is here to help, offering the winners in Writing, Broadcasting and Photography a massive opportunity to enhance their careers and develop their future.
Mission – AIPS has invested in the future of sport journalism by creating the respected AIPS Young Reporters Programmes, that set a high quality reporting standard for UEFA, FIFA, FINA and IAAF events since 2011.
To give an Award to the younger generations is another step in the same direction and underlines AIPS efforts to offer a better future in this profession.
Specs – The Young Reporter category allows one submission per person, therefore leaving participants a chance to compete in the main categories of their preference: whether it’s Video (Athlete Profile, Documentary or Short Feature), Writing (Column or Colour Piece), Audio or Photography (Action or Portfolio).
Like the Special categories, there’s no 2nd place or 3rd place in the Young Reporter category. The three subcategories (Writing, Broadcasting, Photography) will have a direct winner.
All participants for the Young Reporter category must be born on or after January 1, 1990.
