Following uproars in certain quarters since the pregnant picture of a popular Nigerian blogger, Linda Ikeji was revealed, Mazi Peter Agba Kalu, a media guru based in Abuja, has taken on his Facebook timeline asking those who are supposedly demonising Ikeji to look elsewhere.

Kalu hinged his point, saying that Ikeji was an adult and had a right to be pregnant or not. In Kalu’s words, “Let’s stop demonising Linda Ikeji for being pregnant, she’s a grown up who should know what she wants in life.

“She had a right to choose how she wants to live her life in accordance with the Constitution and we should be mature and civilized enough to give her that space and respect her wish.”

Going memory lane, Kalu said that in what went viral few weeks ago on the social media that she was engaged, it could be obvious that the guy was responsible for her pregnancy.

“Besides, few weeks ago, a guy was introduced on the social media to had engaged Linda and the story went viral.

“So, if any one was in doubt that she did not follow the Igbo marriage tradition, the person has to first bring evidence {before bringing her to the cleaners} that her man didn’t see her parents on marriage traditional rites.

“Once, the guy had seen her parents and fulfilled all traditional obligations, they’re married. They might have decided to do it quietly not to attract attention. If so, it’s their choice and we need to respect that.

“In Igbo tradition, once a man who wants a lady’s hand in marriage meets her parents and fulfills all the traditional requirements, they’re married.

“This “white garment marriage” otherwise called “white wedding” is an imported culture; a mere ceremony that can come at anytime as both parties decide. It is not even necessary!

“I’m quite sure that the Linda Ikeji I know will not introduce a guy to the world without introducing him to her parents first.

“Linda Ikeji who is known as Adaoma Ndi’Igbo Ji Eme Onu deserves to be celebrated no matter how you look at it.

“She’s an amazon, a personality that has been tested and proven many years for her inspiration and leadership qaulities for posterity.

“She’s a rare gem that comes once in a generation. However, it is saddening that some Igbo men that ought to lead in celebrating this our dynamic sister, daughter and wife, are the ones leading in the attack to demonise her.”
